Hyderabad-based electric vehicle manufacturer Pure EV has introduced a groundbreaking extended warranty policy, marking a significant milestone in the EV industry. This policy, which retroactively benefits existing customers, covers all major powertrain components—including the battery, motor, and controller—for their EPluto and Etrance+ scooters, available in both high and low-speed variants.
Pure EV offers two high-speed models, EPluto 7G and Etrance Neo, and two low-speed models, EPluto and Etrance+. Previously, the high-speed EPluto 7G had a 3-year warranty on the battery, with 1-year coverage for the motor and controller. The updated policy now extends this to a 5-year warranty on the battery, 3 years on the motor, and 2 years on the controller.
The low-speed models, EPluto and Etrance+, now also come with the same extended warranty terms: 5 years on the battery, 3 years on the motor, and 2 years on the controller. These enhancements are based on extensive data analysis of component performance over 40,000 kilometers, incorporating valuable feedback from customers and dealers. The company collaborated closely with its manufacturing and service teams to implement design improvements and data-driven insights.
The success of these new warranty policies hinges on a sustainable network of dealer outlets. Pure EV ensures its dealers receive the best margins in the industry and supports them with a robust service and repair infrastructure. Technicians receive comprehensive training at the factory for 120 days, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle advanced repairs and maintenance.
Last year, Pure EV introduced BaTRics Faraday, an AI-driven hardware solution designed to resolve battery service failures at the dealer level. This innovation eliminates the need for cell replacements, significantly reducing the battery’s turnaround time and improving overall customer satisfaction.
In a strategic move to expand its market presence, Pure EV recently opened its first flagship store, eBOX Motors, in Delhi. This store marks the company’s entry into the capital and showcases their range of e-scooters. These vehicles feature portable lithium-ion batteries enclosed in a metallic casing, allowing users to charge them via a standard 5 Amp electric socket.
The e-scooters are available in six vibrant colour options—white, red, blue, black, grey, and silver—and boast an aerodynamic body design. Key features include a multi-reflector headlamp, rounded mirrors, 10-inch alloy wheels with fat tyres, and a 4-inch LCD screen. All models are developed in-house at the IIT Hyderabad Research Park.
Pure EV currently has a manufacturing capacity of 60,000 units per year. The company plans to expand its facilities to accommodate an annual production of 2 lakh units, along with a battery manufacturing capacity of 5 GWh. This new plant is scheduled to become operational by 2022, aiming to meet the rising demand for electric vehicles and lithium batteries. Additionally, Pure EV intends to establish dealerships in new cities to further broaden its reach.
