Pure EV has introduced two new electric two-wheeler models, EPluto and Etrance, in Delhi at its flagship store, Ebox Motors, located in Nirman Vihar. This marks the company's first venture into the National Capital Region (NCR), with ambitions to expand further across the region. The company plans to establish additional stores and full-fledged service centers to support this expansion.
The Pure EV R&D Centre, based at IIT Hyderabad, is dedicated to harnessing sustainable energy sources. The company’s name, PURE, embodies its mission: Power Using Renewable Energy. This commitment to sustainability drives all of Pure EV’s innovations.
Pure EV offers a diverse range of electric two-wheelers alongside lithium-ion battery manufacturing. The company operates an in-house battery production facility and a robust research setup, focusing on critical areas such as battery thermal management systems and power train technology. These efforts aim to deliver long-range, high-performance lithium batteries.
Currently, Pure EV boasts a portfolio of four distinct products: two high-speed models, EPluto 7G and Etrance Neo, and two low-speed models, EPluto and Etrance+. With the Indian electric vehicle (EV) sector poised for significant growth, Pure EV is strategically positioned to capitalise on this momentum. The electric scooter segment, in particular, has emerged as a leader in encouraging widespread EV adoption.
The electric two-wheeler market is predominantly made up of high-speed and low-speed scooters, designed to cater to the daily commuting needs of urban dwellers. Most of these scooters have a maximum speed of 60 km/h. Pure EV’s scooters stand out with an impressive ride range of up to 120 km, making them ideal for city rides and beyond.
Pure EV is aggressively expanding its manufacturing capabilities. The company plans to commission a new, larger production facility by 2022. This state-of-the-art plant, spanning two lakh square feet, will significantly boost Pure EV’s capacity. The expansion aims to increase annual EV production to two lakh units and battery manufacturing capacity to 5 GWh. This represents a substantial leap from the current capacities of 30,000 EVs and 0.5 GWh, respectively.
Raj Srivastava, Assistant General Manager – Sales & Distribution at Pure EV, highlighted the increased demand for personal mobility solutions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasised that consumers are seeking affordable electric scooters. Pure EV’s two-wheelers feature a robust chassis designed for Indian road conditions, along with advanced technologies such as regenerative braking and an LED display that shows remaining battery capacity. These features make Pure EV scooters a practical and attractive option for modern commuters.
