TVS Motor, a prominent player in India’s two and three-wheeler market, has revealed exciting updates about its electric vehicle (EV) plans. In a recent interview with a media outlet, Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director of TVS Motor, disclosed the company's EV roadmap for the financial year 2026 (FY26) along with insights into the current pipeline traffic. Here’s a detailed look at what’s in store.
Visit the official TVS Motor website, and you'll notice the TVS X, an electric scooter that was unveiled some time ago. Although it is not yet available for purchase, interested buyers can reserve their units. The TVS X is one of the three electric vehicles that TVS Motor has planned for India in FY26.
Joining the TVS X are two other electric vehicles: an upgraded version of the iQube and a brand-new TVS electric scooter. These announcements are significant, especially since TVS Motor currently leads the market in electric scooter sales and volume in India. The new models are expected to further solidify TVS's position as a major EV manufacturer in the country.
Specific details about the new TVS electric scooter remain under wraps. However, industry analysts suggest that it could be a more budget-friendly option, aimed at competing with models like the Ola S1X, Vida VX2, and the more affordable Chetak. This strategic move could help TVS capture a larger share of the budget EV market.
TVS Motor is known for keeping its test models under wraps, but the upcoming iQube is expected to follow the current design language with a few refined enhancements. Launched back in 2020, the iQube line has been on the market for nearly half a decade, so an update could be just what the doctor ordered.
The upgraded iQube may come packed with additional features and an extended range. Currently, the iQube boasts battery packs of 2.2 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 5.3 kWh, offering ranges from 94 km to 212 km, respectively. The new version might improve these figures, potentially incorporating a mid-mounted motor and rear disc brakes with at least a single-channel ABS setup for enhanced safety.
At present, the TVS iQube is available in three variants: iQube, iQube S, and iQube ST. The price range spans from Rs 94,434 to Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The upgraded iQube is likely to stay within a similar price range, while the new TVS electric scooter will probably be positioned as a more affordable alternative to the iQube.
These developments highlight TVS Motor's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and maintaining its leadership in India's competitive EV market.
