Super Soco CPx: The New Electric Maxi-Scooter for European Markets

Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer Super Soco, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Super Soco Intelligent Co. based in Shanghai, has launched a new maxi-scooter tailored for European markets. The Super Soco CPx is promoted as “a superior alternative to 125cc petrol-CVT scooters.”

    Pricing and Variants

In the UK, the Super Soco CPx is available in two variants. The base single-battery model starts at GBP 3,599 (approximately INR 3.53 lakh), while the dual-battery version is priced at GBP 4,699 (around INR 4.61 lakh). The CPx sits as the second most premium option in Super Soco's lineup, which also includes electric commuter motorcycles.

Super Soco boasts the title of the most successful electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the UK. For the 2020 model year, Super Soco UK offers six products: CUx, CUx Ducati edition, TSx, TC, CPx, and TC Max. Notably, Super Soco is an official supplier for Ducati this year.

    Design and Features

The Super Soco CPx comes in three colour options: Black, Grey, and Silver, and features a distinctive design with an all-black theme. Key features include:

    • Lighting: Full-LED headlamps
    • Wind Protection: Large flyscreen
    • Instrumentation: Digital instrument console
    • Convenience: USB charging port
    • Suspension: Telescopic forks and rear monoshock
    • Seating: Dual flat seat configuration

    • Smartphone Connectivity: Via a dedicated Super Soco app
    • Braking: Disc brakes at both ends with a combi-braking system
    • Suspension: Single-sided swingarm

The CPx made its initial debut at EICMA 2019. The 2020 edition launch was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the cancellation of EICMA 2020.

    Performance and Specifications

The 2020 Super Soco CPx is powered by a robust 4kW (5.36bhp) electric motor, delivering a peak torque of 171Nm at a rated RPM of 750. The scooter offers two battery options: single or dual 2.7kWh, with the dual-battery model providing a maximum capacity of 5.4kWh. This top-tier configuration promises a range of nearly 140km on a full charge when ridden at an average speed of 45km/h. Charging the battery from empty to above 90 per cent takes approximately 3-4 hours.

Performance-wise, the CPx can achieve a top speed of just under 90km/h. It is fitted with 100/80R16 tubeless radial tyres at the front and 110/80R14 at the rear. The single-sided swingarm combined with the hub-mounted motor offers an impressive conversion efficiency of 91 per cent and allows for a tyre-change time of only five minutes.
